Past Events

Since it was launched in February 2015, Movement to End Racism and Islamophobia (MERI) has organized or participated in events countering racism and Islamophobia through North Carolina. Check links to some of the past events.

MERI organized a forum on Racism and Islamophobia at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church on June 15, 2015. This event was attended by about 150 people. Learn more below:

Members of MERI participated in counter-Confederacy rally at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on October 25, 2015. This rally was organized by Black students at UNC students and was supported by peace and justice activists through the Triangle area of North Carolina.

Members of MERI spoke at a forum titled “Challenging Racism and Islamophobia” at Fayetteville, NC, on November 16, 2015. This forum was organized by Quaker House. Learn here.
