Counter Demonstration against Alamance County Taking Back Alamance County

Sunday October 25th, 1 p.m. at the Silent Sam Statue

A group named Alamance County Taking Back Alamance County will come to UNC Chapel Hill on Sunday, October 25th in retaliation to The Real Silent Sam’s rally on University Day. This group has expressed racist, antiblack, Islamophobic, and xenophobic sentiments; despite their extremist threats to the humanity of students who are people of color on this campus, UNC’s administration has shown no interest in preventing this group’s arrival to the campus or protecting vulnerable students.

In order to reclaim space and refocus the attention on student movements against racism, students, faculty, staff, and supporters will enact a counter demonstration starting at 1:00 pm. We will intercept the group’s plan to rally at Silent Sam and re-center student voices in the fight to bring down the monument and hold university administrators accountable for the negligence and indifference to our safety and wellbeing.
