Balance & Accuracy in Journalism (BAJ)
presents
MANZOOR CHEEMA
on
CHALLENGING RACISM AND ISLAMOPHOBIA
This last year brought home the painful reality
of racism and Islamophobia in the Chapel Hill murders
of three Muslim students. Police killings of
unarmed Blacks and Latinos across the country
remind us of further harsh realities.
What can be done?
Our speaker this Wednesday is Manzoor Cheema,
a passionate human rights advocate, videographer,
and co-founder of MERI, the Movement to End Racism
and Islamophobia. https://www.merinc.org
Manzoor is bringing people and groups together
to meet these challenges.
Manzoor is known to many of us as the videographer
who has capably recorded many of our programs.
He received the 2014 International Human Rights Award,
presented by the Human Rights Coalition of NC.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR MEETING SITE
Community Church, Unitarian Universalist
106 Purefoy Road, Chapel Hill
FROM EITHER DIRECTION ON THE CHAPEL HILL BYPASS:
take 15-501 [or 54] to the 15-501 Pittsboro exit
As you exit, TURN at the traffic light toward Chapel Hill.
Almost immediately TURN RIGHT just short of the convenience store.
That’s PUREFOY ROAD, and you take it almost half a mile,
passing two stop signs as it curves left up the hill
until you can – just – see the third stop sign ahead of you.
At that point, there is a driveway on the left
with a small, subtle, tan sign for the church.
That driveway takes you to the parking lot and the Community Church.
